How big is the PlayStation 5?

The official design for the PS5 was finally unveiled during The Future of Gaming, Sony’s showcase earlier this year. While a deluge of memes immediately began, and there are differing viewpoints on just how good the system looks, there’s a near universal-sentiment that the console is far larger than what many people expected.

Exactly how big, though? That’s a tough call to make since Sony has yet to release the official dimensions. Right now, all we can do is guess or make estimations based on the size of the disc drive, USB port, and DualSense controller.

One analysis from HDR enthusiast @EvilBoris on Twitter reaching an estimated 400mm in height, or almost 16 inches.

What about the PlayStation 5 digital edition?

According to PlayStation, the only difference between the regular PS5 and the digital edition is the lack of a 4K Blu-ray drive. So the regular PS5 will be slightly thicker, at least in place, but this should not result in any other different dimensions.

We’ll be sure to provide an update when Sony releases the official dimensions for both models. The PS5 is set to release at some point during Holiday 2020.
